MAROUBRA: Project 1
Scope of works: Full renovation of existing two storey house.
Martin’s Comments: This was an exciting project to work on and consisted of renovating the entire home. The owner’s continued to reside in the property with their children during construction so it was imperative to have a clean and safe site at all times.
The clients wanted their kitchen to become the heart of the home and wanted an open plan living space created for their family. This involved demolishing the rear section of the home, inserting steel beams to support the move, moving the staircase to the opposite side of the room to give more space and a more functional layout for the room. The beautiful new kitchen has modern appliances, sleek pendant lights over the island bench & Corian stone benchtops. A gas fireplace was installed to give a homely feel to the room.
External works included adding a new entertaining area to the rear of the home allowing the family to gain maximum use of their pool and outdoor area and to connect the indoor living space with the alfresco area.
A new deck was built on the upper floor to allow for city views and views of the pool and alfresco area.
The carport at the front of the house was demolished and replaced and the facade of the home was updated to give it a modern contemporary look and increase the curb appeal of the overall home.
Overall this was an extremely rewarding project to work on. The family were very realistic about building and its challenges and were a pleasure to work with during the renovation.
Owner’s Comments: The owners were absolutely delighted with their new home (Read Rex & Eileen's testimonial here)

MAROUBRA STORAGE ROOM
Scope of Works: Excavate a dead area under the existing floor space to create a new room.
Martin's Comments: While cutting out the area for the new stairs, we discovered an area of the house which could be excavated and utilised as a storage area for the family.
This was challenging and labour intensive as the area was tight and it had to be excavated by hand. We excavated tonnes of sand, whilst shoring the existing foundations and constructing a new retaining wall. The area was then sealed with a new concrete slab.
Owner’s Comments: The owners were absolutely thrilled to gain an extra room and to be able to utilise this area for storage.
